We provide tools, equipment, training, events, workshops, distribution channels, grants, inspiration, and community-building activities to inspire and support local residents in creating their own media. We do this in traditional and emerging media, on cable channels and on YouTube, in narrative and documentary film, and in VR/XR through our project, the Public VR Lab.
We facilitate community dialogue through media expression, provide transparency in local government and train children and adults to create, express, challenge, document, narrate, tell stories, cover news, and explore media creation in all its forms.
We're building out our team for the next chapter of our organizational growth, and we want to hear from you! We have two open positions, a Manager of Development & Education (below), and a Media Manager, and are hiring for them simultaneously!
Open Position: Manager of Development and Education
Under supervision of the Executive Director, the Manager of Development and Education will facilitate business development for earned income, grants, and donors; coordinate collaborations with education partners, volunteers, training programs and community groups; and generate other community engagement strategies designed to promote the mission and long-term financial sustainability of Brookline Interactive Group (BIG), and its project, the Public VR Lab.
This is a full-time exempt career-level management position. The Manager of Development and Education will support outreach, membership, educational, and fundraising initiatives in support of BIG’s organizational goals as prioritized by the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
Coordinate development strategies to increase participation, reporting/tracking, funding, and community involvement in the following areas:
Manage and develop new educational partners, supporters and programs,
Coordinate relationships with community organizations and residents,
Drive membership, outreach and new program efforts,
Research and write grants, cultivate donors and manage revenue-generating programs,
Provide programatic budgets and reports,
Develop and teach innovative workshops and classes,
Organize and set goals for fundraising events, increasing funding by 10% annually,
Communicate the value proposition the organization's history and future,
Draft, write and submit proposals to potential funders; track data and submit timely reports to funders and executive director.
Write and implement outlines for curriculum in STEAM and media production training programs,
Act as liaison between K-12 after-school activities and enrichment directors and BIG, coordinating schedules, invoicing and payment, grant writing, reporting, screenings, and school communication,
Teach and develop classes, and mentors youth in a job training program,
Oversee intern and volunteer programs by coordinating recruitment, training, liaison with school contacts, and managing completion of projects,
Assist at front desk interacting with members, partners, volunteers, and visitors,
Organize and promote gallery openings, screenings and special events at BIG,
Teach internal and external media, content creation, and communications training and workshops, and present at conferences,
Oversee regular membership and user database entry by staff and interns, and deliver monthly and annual reports,
Write copy and submit content for marketing campaigns, newsletters, community calendars, and social media,
Plan community events and special BIG events; attend public events at booths with staff, interns and volunteers,
Represent the organization professionally in Brookline, and within community media as a field builder,
Assist with video/web/graphic design and VR/AR content production and projects as assigned,
Manages media files and equipment designated for after-school programming,
Assist the Executive Director and other management staff with day-to-day operations as needed,
Other projects as assigned.
Creative and innovative approach to all partnerships, internal/external programs and product development; an ability to link the organization’s mission, programs and priorities with stakeholders’ interests in giving and participating,
Excellent written communication skills; ability to compose, edit and proofread materials to AP standards,
Graphic design & layout experience with Adobe Creative Cloud tools; basic experience in using and quickly learning web tools, media creation, and CMS systems,
Experience working with multiple social media platforms in an organizational environment,
Highly positive and enthusiastic style; commitment to ongoing self-improvement, quick resolution of problems, and a proactive communication style,

Must be comfortable and available for night shifts, on a regular basis, and some weekend shifts,
Must be willing to use personal vehicle for business-related travel in Brookline and Boston, as needed,
Lift up to 50 lbs,
Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts driver's license (or be willing to obtain one upon employment), have a safe driving record, and maintain Massachusetts minimum required automobile insurance,
Must pass CORI check,
Must demonstrate basic communications and media production ability,
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE:
Four-year degree preferred, with relevant experience in some or all of the following areas:
non-profit or corporate business development,
media arts, technology or design,
STEAM, media literacy, design thinking and/or development of educational curriculum and/or product development,
community relations and strategic partnerships.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requires the ability to exert a small amount of physical effort in sedentary to light work involving moving from one area to another; requires sufficient hand/eye coordination to perform repetitive movements. Work is typically performed in an indoor office environment, and regularly in meetings at other locations in the community. Work is sometimes performed remotely, and can involve travel to other states, and/or to other countries.
The environment is oriented to public service and subject to constant work interruptions. Employees may work under the stress of continual public and/or inter-departmental contact and pressure to work with volunteers, adhere to tight timelines, and meet a high level of fundraising and communications goals.
